The Pull

There is a rhythm to working on the water - one built on experience, hard work and a deep understanding of the tides. This watercolor captures a Lowcountry waterman in the midst of his work, hauling a weathered net of freshly caught crabs aboard his boat. Through watercolor, I wanted to capture not only this moment of labor, but the character and quiet dignity of the man behind it.
