Going Home
This eye-catching image portrays a distinctly Southern, Lowcountry character. Wetlands are bathed in a golden glow. Spanish moss glistens in the evening breeze as a flock of egrets take flight, adding movement to the peaceful openness of the landscape. Large trees frame the composition from above and along the right side, their dark, leafy branches contrasting beautifully with the glowing sky. The overall effect is warm, peaceful, and contemplative—a quiet moment at the edge of the marsh as daylight fades. The loose brushwork and luminous reflections give the painting an impressionistic quality, while the strong framing trees create an intimate viewpoint overlooking the expansive coastal landscape. There’s something spiritual in the message of “going home”. As the birds head toward their rookery after a day in the marsh, so we look to the light as our eternal destination. This special piece will become the focal point of any home.
