About Bonnie Stabler
Charleston (SC) artist, Bonnie McPhail Stabler is a former High School Art teacher who has found her passion in oil painting since retiring in 2004.
Her style reflects a blend of Realism with the softness and looser qualities of Impressionism as she paints generously and colorfully on her canvases. Favorite subjects include the coast’s luscious tidal marshes, Charleston street scenes and rural South Carolina farm-life and small towns.
For the most part, ordinary things in extraordinary light fascinate me; one last oyster nestled in its gleaming shell on a backdrop of newspaper or the graceful sway of a backlit pine tree. I hope my art will touch a kindred spirit; that someone will want to share an enchanted moment.
She is a member of Oil Painters of America, the Impressionist Society and Association of Women Artists and her works have been included in Regional and National Shows (OPA) (AIS), the “Icons of the West” Invitational Exhibit in Montana and the Spoleto Juried Outdoor Art Exhibit (Charleston) for several years. She is represented by Lowcountry Artists Gallery in the historic district of Charleston, SC. ( www.lowcountryartists.com.)
